Falling snow, sparkling lights, warm hot cocoa on a chilly evening - winter really is the most magical season. While you’re out playing in the snow though, you’ve got to make sure your curls are staying protected! Curly hair is unique, beautiful and also more delicate than other hair types. Depending on where you live, harsh cold weather or ice and snow can damage your curls.

Winter doesn’t mean your only style options are your trustworthy winter beanie or simply hiding your hair all season until the cold is over. Don’t worry, your luscious, long Lené curls will have you feeling like an ice princess all season - sans the damage. So here are 5 gorgeous winter hairstyles you can try with your Lené curly extensions. FYI these styles work even if you’re not wearing extensions, so give them a try!

1. Accessorize with a scarf!

Especially cold days can be really damaging and harsh for fragile curls. Still that doesn’t mean we want to lose out on looking cute. A little cold weather never stopped a girl from looking her best. So what's the compromise? Try a cute scarf style!

To pull off this look, pull your hair up into a high ponytail (think pineapple here). Then grab your favorite cute scarf - something colorful and bright, not the one you use to wrap your hair at night - and tie it around your hair, covering mainly the back. Tuck in the tied part to give it a seamless look and voila! Feel free to pull a few pieces loose from the front to frame your face.

And an expert tip - for some extra protection, add some oil then tuck the tips of your curls that are exposed back into the scarf. Your curls will still look gorgeous, but your ends will thank you!

2. Sew Ins

Sew ins are the ultimate winter protective cute style! Sew ins allow you to have long luscious winter princess hair, while underneath protecting your natural curls. For too long, sew in styles meant only being able to rock straight hair. Nowadays that’s changed, options like bundle wefts from Lené allow you to rock a variety of curl patterns while actually protecting your delicate hair.

The amazing part about sew ins is that they allow you to decide how much hair you leave out. Leave out just a bit of hair and keep most of your hair sewed in below. Or just add some volume or length to your style and leave out most of your hair. The options are endless!

3. Curly High Bun

The benefits of a curly high bun are endless. A high tight ponytail bun gives you that sleek, snatched Bella Hadid look without a whole makeup team to get you together. Simply tie your hair into a high pony then wrap the hair around the base to create a bun.

Want an even fuller bun look? Take a few curly clip-ins and after pulling your hair into a sleek bun (but before wrapping the hair into a pony) clip in one or two wefts of extensions close to the base of the pony. Then as you wrap your hair and the extensions into a bun, cover where the extensions have been clipped in using the bun. This is the ultimate trick for a full voluminous bun.

If you want a softer, less sleek look then simply release a few curl strands to frame your face and soften your look.

4. Back Puff

This look is a variation on the curly high bun. Instead of pulling your hair up to create your bun, you’re going to part your hair down the middle and brush the hair down and create a low pony.

Then create a large bun at the base. Similar to the high bun trick you can also add some Lené extensions near the base of the pony here then wrap the hair around to create the bun, and cover where the extensions are clipped. Business in the front and fullness party in the back!

5. Twisted/Braided Space Bun

This is a super cute look that looks sophisticated and is actually really easy to pull off. It's amazing as a protective style because it keeps your curly ends tucked away thus less prone to damage and breakage (are we noticing a trend here?). To try out this style, start by parting your hair down the middle. On each half of your hair twist or cornrow your hair down until you get to the nape of your neck. Then tie off with an elastic band and create a bun for each half of your hair.

Again, if you want more voluminous buns - use a set of Lené clips to create that full ethereal space princess bun.
