Lené hair extensions are premium quality 100% Remy hair. Remy quality hair have their cuticles intact and directional, unlike non-remy hair. As such they must be handled with care to ensure their health and longevity. Here are the ways to best care for your Lené:
- In order to best care for your extensions, when you are not using them make sure to store them properly. Your Lené order comes with a satin bag, and you may use this to store the hair. You may also use a clean box to store your extensions in. Always make sure your hair is completely dry before storing.
- Do not sleep with your clip in extensions still in your hair, always remove and store clip ins away before bed.
- The less you wash your extensions, the longer they are able to last. We recommend washing when there is product buildup or roughly once a month.
- When washing tape in extensions, avoid the top area where the weft of the tape is.
- When washing your extensions, depending on how dirty your extensions are you may either just wash it with a conditioner, or if you have to use shampoo make sure you use a sulfate and alcohol free shampoo designed for damaged, dry hair.
- After washing please use a deep conditioner to nourish and deeply moisturize your extensions, doing so will extend the life of your extensions. Use a conditioner designed for damaged, dry hair.
- Your hair extensions do not receive the hair oils and the nutrient from your scalp that your own hair receives so please handle the extensions with care. When washing don’t scrub the extensions as you do with your own hair, instead gently finger detangle the curls while wet then hang to dry.
- Again because your hair extensions do not receive nutrients from your scalp, in order to keep them lush and moisturized use moisturizing oil on them like coconut oil, jojoba oil and argan oil. These oils have the best properties to really penetrate through the hair cuticles and nourish your extensions. If wearing the tape in extensions however, be careful to keep oils away as that may cause your tape in extensions to loosen.
Your hair extensions don’t get nutrients from your scalp like your natural hair so its very important to keep them moisturized.
- Shampoo and Conditioner: Look for shampoos that are sulfate and alcohol free. That means avoiding products that have the following: SLS, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Alcohol denat, Ethanol, SD alcohol 40, Propanol, Isopropyl, and Propyl. Instead look for products that are specifically formulated for dry, brittle hair to boost the moisture of your extensions.
- Deep Conditioner: Deep conditioner will help to keep your extensions moisturized and soft. We recommend deep conditioning after washing your extensions. Simply apply the deep conditioner after washing the extensions, roll up the extensions and place in a plastic cap or bag and leave in as the instructions state. Then rinse out and air dry.
- Oils: Hair oils are amazing for keeping your extensions soft and healthy. The best oils we recommend proven to penetrate the hair shaft are coconut oil, jojoba oil and argan oil.
- Heat Protectant: Heat should be avoided ideally or at least used sparingly on your Lené extensions in order to protect the hair and the texture of the curls. Whenever you do use heat however make sure you always first use a good heat protectant to limit the damage and drying out on your extensions.
Avoid products that have the following: SLS, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Alcohol denat, Ethanol, SD alcohol 40, Propanol, Isopropyl, and Propyl. Products like hair sprays which are formulated with alcohol to help with drying and shaping the hair should be avoided or used sparingly. Similarly avoid or limit the use of heat on your hair extensions to keep your extensions healthy and long lasting. Instead look for products that are specifically formulated for dry, brittle hair to boost the moisture of your extensions.
Lené hair extensions should be stored in a way to keep your curls intact and protected. You may use the satin bag that comes with your extensions to store the hair. Start with the hair detangled, if storing clip ins make sure all the clips are closed first, simply wrap the hair around in the same direction, form it into a circle shape then store into your Lené satin bag. You may also use a clean box to store the extensions using the same method.
The less you wash your hair extensions, the longer the lifespan of the hair. We recommend washing the extensions when there is too much product buildup, or about once a month. This amount will vary based on how often you wear your extensions and products you may use on the hair.
Lené hair extensions are made using premium 100% Remy hair. While this means you can color the hair darker and tone your hair the same way you do with your natural hair, curly hair extensions are especially delicate because of the curl pattern they hold. Dying the hair may result in curl pattern changing, so we do not recommend dying the hair. If you need a custom color, please email Help@LeneHairOfficial.com. If you choose to tone or dye the hair darker, first try it on a small portion first and always go to a professional.
Lené hair extensions are made using premium 100% Remy hair, which means you can style the hair as your own. This means you can use heat on the hair however we do not recommend it, especially for the Type 3 and Type 4 collections. Hair extensions don’t get nutrients and oil from the scalp so they are more prone to becoming dry, heat will cause them to dry out faster and may damage your curls - just like what would happen with your natural hair! Using heat will hurt the lifespan of your extensions and may affect the curl pattern. If you do decide to use heat, always use a heat protectant first and keep your hot tools to under 120 Celsius/250 Fahrenheit.
Yes! Lené sells replacement tape for the tape in extensions so you can simply put in new tape and continue using the hair.
Lené hair extensions are made using premium 100% Remy hair, which means that you can cut the hair as you would your own natural hair!
